Mission Statement
The mission of the MB Biblical Seminary is to inspire and equip men and women to live as disciples of Jesus Christ and to serve and lead in the church and in the world. That is also my mission as President of the Seminary. Our vision is to be the seminary of choice for Mennonite Brethren and people of other churches and denominations as they seek training for their pastors and pastoral candidates. Our core value is excellence in all we do. My personal commitment is that our students receive a high quality academic education in understanding and interpreting the Bible. In addition, I desire that they experience a deep and meaningful Christian community. I pray that they will learn to love lost people as God loves them. Most of all, I desire that every student will have a deep and passionate love for and relationship with Jesus Christ.
Background
Jim Holm served as a parish pastor for nearly twenty-three years. He brings a rich experience of pastoral ministry, along with a passion for expository preaching. He has served as a leader in the Mennonite Brethren Church for many years, including four years as President of the Mennonite Brethren Churches of the USA. He has been at the seminary since April 1997, as Dean of Students/Director of Constituency Relations, where he has pursued his interest in understanding spiritual formation and practicing spiritual disciplines. He began his role as president of the seminary in 2003.
Books and Articles
Jim was for three years a regular columnist for The Christian Leader, the magazine of the United States Mennonite Brethren churches. He periodically publishes articles in various Mennonite Brethren journals and magazines.
