Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling (MFCC) Faculty Position Opening
Join the team at Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary on our Fresno, California campus. Together, we inspire and equip men and women to be disciples of Jesus Christ, and to serve and lead in the church and in the world. This position will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
The successful candidate must demonstrate:
1. competence in marriage and family therapy, integration of the academic disciplines of theology and social sciences, and the practices of pastoral counseling.
2. agreement with the MB Biblical Seminary Mission and Identity statements and the Mennonite Brethren Confession of Faith.
Preference will be given to those who:
1. have a completed doctorate in a discipline related to marriage and family therapy, counselor education or psychology
2. are, or are eligible to be, licensed in California
3. have graduate theological training
4. have experience counseling individuals, couples, families and children, and groups
5. have experience living and working in a multicultural setting
6. are knowledgeable regarding a wide range of theories of counseling with interest in psychodynamic psychotherapy to increase the depth of this program
In addition to a strong emphasis on the integration of counseling and the Christian faith, unique elements of the MFCC program at MB Biblical Seminary include a priority of helping students grow in a wide range of areas not limited to academic achievement and counseling skills. Teaching and mentoring are prioritized but research is encouraged. MFCC faculty functions as part of an interdisciplinary team with Bible, Theology, and Missions faculty.
Course load for this position could include the following:
1. Interpersonal Communication (offered for all seminary programs)
2. Human Development
3. Human Sexuality
4. Community Psychology
5. Research Testing and Family Assessment
Start date: September 2009 or 2010.
This is a continuing appointment with an initial two-year term.
