Admissions

New Student Orientation

Students are admitted to a degree or diploma program upon admission to MB Biblical Seminary. The only exception to this is when Marriage, Family and Child Counseling applicants have not met all the prerequisite requirements for Direct Admission to the Marriage, Family and Child Counseling program. These students are given one semester of general admission to MB Biblical Seminary while they complete prerequisites.

After completion of 12 units all degree seeking students complete Degree Discernment with their faculty advisor. The only exception is Marriage, Family and Child Counseling students who complete Trainee and Practicum Assessment after 18 units.

The program of study at the Seminary is designed for students who have completed a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university which includes courses in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Students without a religion/biblical studies background will be encouraged to read a selected set of background readings as preparation for seminary studies. Prospective students are encouraged to establish a strong base in the liberal arts upon which later theological reflection can rest. They should be able to think independently, communicate effectively, and do research. Students should possess a basic knowledge of past and present cultures through studies in the humanities, and the natural and social sciences. A limited number of students may be admitted from non-accredited institutions.
