How can I best support my son or daughter as they go through this program?
Pray for your child that they will discover more of who God has created them to be and His call on their life. Send an encouragement note along when they travel to the fall/spring retreats. Plan time after each retreat to hear what they are learning about themselves. Encourage the in their mentoring relationship and take interest in what they are experiencing.
How can my child become involved in MQ?
MQ is open to high school students (ages 16-18). Students must be nominated to MQ by a pastor from their home church and students must apply.
How long is the MQ program?
MQ is a one year program in two stages. The program follows the school calendar, beginning in fall and ending in summer. The first stage (Charting Your Course) runs from late August to January. The second stage (Setting Your Sail) runs from February to July.
How many school days are affected by participation in MQ?
Typically students will miss a total of up to 8 days of school. Retreat schedules have been set taking into account the possibility of using long weekends so students will miss fewer days of school. Depending on the distance traveled, students may miss a part or whole day of school on the Thursday and Tuesday travel days of the retreat. Because the MQ program is a leadership development program, we feel the benefits of participation offset the loss of school time.
Is this program worth missing school for?
Ministry Quest attracts some of the strongest students in our communities. They are student council presidents, athletes, musicians and member of youth leadership teams. MQ is an intense program requiring a significant time commitment on the part of the student and their mentor. Read more…
What about transportation costs and arrangements?
MQ provides and arranges air transportation to and from the retreats and all transportation during these events. Students living within a two hour driving radius of the retreat locations are required to find their own transportation to the retreat centre.
What are the costs for participation in MQ?
MQ costs $95 per stage for the student (there are two stages) and $250 per student per stage for the local congregation.
Who can participate in MQ?
MQ is open to high school students (ages 16-18) who have a growing faith in Jesus, are curious about ministry and demonstrate leadership potential. Students should be active in their local congregation and their community.
