MQ: Mentoring
Ministry Quest begins with a one-on-one mentoring relationship between a leader of the church and a student. The purpose of the mentoring track is spiritual formation. We desire for students to grow in their knowledge of God’s Word, their communication with God, their obedience to God and their ability to share their faith. Our desire is that they will become more passionate in their relationship with Jesus.
The mentoring materials have been chosen to help you achieve these goals with your student. We recommend that student and mentor meet weekly or bi-weekly to be able to cover the materials in the required time frame. There will be thirteen mentoring sessions during each of the two stages of Ministry Quest.
Our new booklet, Mentoring Matters, will guide you through helpful steps in establishing your relationship. Booklets are available through Kindred Productions
Expectations for mentoring relationships
Our expectation is that students will grow in their faith through life-on-life mentoring. The mentoring relationship is more than a “buddy” system. It involves studying Scripture together, listening to God, being open to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit and being accountable to each other. It involves mentors sharing their passion for God and ministry. Mentors and students are asked to enter into a Learning Covenant, outlining goals and parameters for their relationship. We ask that mentor and student be of the same gender and mentors need to pass the screening policies of your church (eg. “Child Abuse Registry” check).
