MQ: What mentors wish someone had told them!

In a recent survey of mentors, these were some of their comments:
– be serious, make the time count
– be prepared to invest quality time

– sit down with the student and parents to review and sign the mentoring covenant before you start
– be prepared for the long haul
– build friendship because this will encourage trust
– be consistent; bring variety to your meetings
– take your mentee on the road; living real life alongside your mentee is the best learning tool
