MQ: Ministry Observation

The Ministry Observation component consists of a student observing a pastor or leader in some aspect of his or her ministry. This is an opportunity for the student to see the behind-the-scene operation of the church and feeling the heart beat of ministry. Students should be given the opportunity to observe leadership, ministry and service. Students are required to complete two observation during Charting Your Course. Some examples are:

Leadership
* Sermon preparation
* Worship service preparation
* Leading a worship team rehearsal
* Youth event planning
* Outreach event planning
* Bible study leading
* Committee or council meeting
* Church leadership retreat

Ministry
* Hospital or shut-in visit
* Prayer meeting
* Pastoral visit – leading someone to Christ
* Disciplining ministry

Service
* Children’s programming event
* Deacons’(care givers) meeting
* Ministry at a shelter/food bank
* Urban plunge ministry
* Technical support ministry (eg. audio/visual)
